The job of an NVR is to keep a full time record of everything your IP camera sees and this device does that very well. I purchased the 8 channel unit because I only have one FS camera and I'm unlikely to ever have more than eight. I set it up with a 1tb hard drive (WD Purple) which saves video 24/7 for 17 days. You can use that as a guide if you have more than one camera or need a full month of recordings (or more). Note, you can set schedules in the software to start/stop recording at specific times.
