The 10G SFP+ Active Optical Cables are direct-attach fiber assemblies with SFP+ connectors and operate over Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF). This AOC is compliant with SFF-8431 MSA standards. It provides a cost-efficient solution as compared to using discrete optical transceivers and optical patch cables and is suitable for 10Gbps connections within racks and across adjacent racks. The optics are completely contained inside the cable, which—without LC optical connectors to clean, scratch, or break—dramatically increases reliability and lowers maintenance costs. AOCs are most often used for creating 1-30m short switch-to-switch or switch-to-GPU links.
Note: The FS P/N is changed from SFPP-AOxxx to SFP-10G-AOxxx, but the product is the same. Only the FS P/N has been changed.

Bought 12 x 5M AOC SPF+ 10GbE customized cables - I specified that for one transceiver to be compatible with our Juniper QFX switches and the other end match up to the Broadcom branded NICs in our servers, so I was expecting a wait time for them to be made and shipped, but to my surprise they were customized and shipped out the day after I put in the order.
The cables were packaged and labeled very nicely (see pictures) and work like a charm! We are using some of their standalone transceivers within our SAN for over a year and haven't had a single problem. We also use them for fiber and copper patch cables.
I want to find a reason to not use fs.com, but so far everything has been perfect, and we will continue to use them going forward. They consistently deliver good products and have earned our business.
Having a dedicated account rep who keeps us updated is very helpful and I know if we do have an issue, she is waiting to help us.
If you are on the fence, give them a try and hopefully your experience matches ours!
